2001 XLT 5.0
Hi!

I recently purchased and intalled the Tru-Rev intake on my 2001 XLT 5.0. The extra kick is great and the sound is great, but I'm having a problem with my gas mileage. My first tank of gas, I drove her hard and I expected the unusualy bad GM. But with this tank now, I'm driving her very easy (haven't gunned it one) just to get an idea of what to expect in the future (no fun, but gas prices are rising too...).

Stock: 15-16
Gunned W/ Tru-Rev: 10-11
Easy W/Tru-Rev: 14-15. :(

I thought (after reading other's posts) that the Tru-Rev would not only help with a bit of a kick, but would also help with gas mileage. Did I think correctly?

Also, I have the other mods on order: Flowmaster 50 SUV, upgraded Mass-Air Sensor, and lastly, a SuperChip. I should expect a HP boost, but what about a GM boost? Will I kill my GM, or will it increase? If I kill it, order's cancled!

Thanks for your help, and make a great weekend!

Ry.

Maybe the new air filter splattered oil on your MAF? Clean it and see what happens.

Sometimes an intake mod or exhaust mod by itself will lower mileage cause the rule "air in, air out" isn't being followed. When you do your other mods, you should see better mileage, with a feather foot.

did you reset the computer? I know when I installed mine all I got was a different exhaust sound. I did reset the computer but started driving it normal right after.

if you check the mas and it all looks good, try disconnecting the battery, waiting a few minutes and then connecting it. Then crank it up and idle it for 10 minutes. After that granny it around the neighborhood and see what it does.

my 1st reset was apparently a bad one, as I saw no difference. since this 2nd reboot after a fresh cleaning of the filter, its running muuuuuuuuch better.

hope that helps ya

I definately sdaw some kick in the arse boost as well as MPG boost. Best $100 I ever spent on my truck.

Good luck....

Thanks guys.

Thanks for your help!

I'm going to try and reset it and see what happens. But definately, the Flowmaster is on it's way :)

Thanks again!

Ry.
