Sorry for posting a question that is probably answered here but I dont have a net connection at my home and its getting late. I just purchased a 93 exp to replace the 94 I had that now has a locked up engine. The 93 that I haven't got to bring home yet supposidly needs a tranny. It did move fwd and back a few feet but the guy didn't wanna move it any further than that for fear that it wouldn't engage in gear again. He said hadn't had any trouble before one day starting up a hill and just went out of gear, set ebrake and had no fwd or reverse. I guess it left a small puddle of fluid below the car and must have towed it home. He said he messed with it a few days later and it engaged and he moved it up in his yard about 50 ft and has set there since. I know, used car, who knows but is extremely good shape for a 93 and bout 130k. I have the 94 that can steal the tranny out of but I would like some ideas of hopefully some simple things to avoid dropping them. Any ideas/suggestions? Thankyou

Well from everything i've learned here i would simply swap the 94 tranny into the 93 X. If you have a chance to read around you will find out that the 94's had the most updated A4LD's in them...

Not enough info to give you any advice on. Low fluid can cause no engagement, for example.

Wish I had more time to read around on here, love to see all the things everyone else has learned. So the 94 is the best? I didn't realize they had made changes. The computer won't give me any troubles will it? I would still like to get the other one working right regardless because would like to build boonie basher out of my old one but want the quickest route to getting on the road. Getting tired of having to borrow vehicles and bum rides. I hope the weather clears up soon here so can get it home and work on it some. So short of checking the fluid, anything else quick and simple to check for before start swapping? Thankyou all

Make sure its the trans thats bad on the 93 and not the transfer case. Could possibly be that.
