Hi all
Recurrence of old problem with previous solution no longer working!
Problem: Turn ignition, car idles for a second and then cuts out, when you remove the MAF plug the car runs ok (not great but driveable). Last time I cleaned the MAF - no difference, so I cleaned the IAC. Solved the problem.
A month later and the problem has returned. I've been driving with MAF sensor disconnected again for two days as I haven't had time to do anything. Today I cleaned the IAC with no effect. I then cleaned the MAF with no effect. Unfortunately I also reset the computer which means that driving without the MAF plugged in is a lot worse than it was before.
Need a next step as the car is virtually undriveable - the idle can go down to about 600 rpm in gear, which means it's prone to cutting out as you pull out into traffic! I'm thinking maybe IAC or MAF are properly buggered this time.
Any idea why it would run better with the MAF disconnected though? Is that a clue?
Counting on you lot for some good advice/suggestions!
JJ
