So I've been going through my recently acquired 95 E.B. ....fixing all the little quirks...small issues...
Today I went out to address door lock problem - with key fob and master lock control (driver) this particular lock moves only partially up and down when trying to unlock / lock....not finishing travel to lock or unlock. Well upon tearing into it (unfortunately didn't notice this before taking panel off....not somewhere one's eyes wander) - it turns out the metal door jam section of door where the electronic door actuator mounts was ripped open! .... It's totally thin metal there and I guess at one point the actuator was struggling / binding up a bit and caused this cheap metal to rip open! See pics:
Can't believe Ford has razor thin metal there.....understand thinner ...but not like this...

WOW!!!! Having done a complete rebuild of my driver door's guts, I'm a little shocked! Is that driver door bone stock original?

Yep....totally stock/original.... (it's driver's side rear passenger)
Going to hit up welder acquaintance to put in solid plate backing etc to get back to normal.......good times..... so much effort for such initially small issues....like removing instrument cluster / associated panels to replace tiny PLASTIC worm gear on odometer the other day....:banghead:

I used to get frustrated with how much effort the little stuff takes to make right but now I'm enjoying the process and then stepping back to see my handy-work.

Yeah....once it's done it's cool to look back and think "well that's now working and out of the way" !

There are a lot of potentially good Gen 2s around right now for good prices that just need a lot of small things to get them back to good operating condition.
