Where does this plastic part go?

I am rebuilding the 4.0 SOHC out of my '98 XLT Limited and I am installing a new tensioner kit on the left head. This kit came with a plastic shaft type of part that is about 4" or so long and tapered on both ends. Does anyone know where this new part goes? There was no part like this in the head before, so I assume it's part of the recall upgrade for this engine. Someone mentioned that they though it went in the oil galley?..if so, what does it do? There was no instructions with this kit so I'm kind of left hangin'. Please help!! Anyone with any information can also e-mail me a fazer_1@yahoo.com

Thanks!

Yes, it's the oil gallery volume reduction plug. On the driver's side head, right next to the tensioner, there is a 1/8" tapered pipe plug. (The 00M12 rebuild instructions show where it goes). IIRC, you'll need a T45 torx bit, but don't quote me on that... An impact driver is helpful, and you don't want to strip it.

Good luck!
