Hey Yall. We just bought a 97 Explorer XLT 4x4 mostly for my wife to drive. I have a 78 Bronco but it's undergoing a complete frame off restoration right now so she's going to have to share for a while. I'm Donnie and she's Martha. We are from Macon, Georgia. We hunt, fish, boat, camp, all the typical outdoor stuff except for hiking and mountain biking. Had to give that up when we hit our late 50's. Bad backs from too many off road miles in a CJ5 and the Bronco.

Welcome to Explorer Forum!

Welcome to the forum! We expect many pics in the "other makes and models" section of the forum of your frame-off restoration.

As for biking, I used to manage a shop that had a huge biking section and I myself have 4 bikes. While mountain biking may be out, I'd suggest a recumbent for every day riding. Very easy on the back and you can get ones that sit fairly high as well.

Thanks Gator. I still ride the bike a little on the streets for cardio. Just can't take the hills and ruts and rocks any more. Bronco project is on hold for a while. Just had tornado on mother's day. Wife's car got a 20" oak dropped on it so the Explorer was it's replacement. It'll take me 3 or 4 months to fix the house and yard before I get back to any of my projects.

Good to hear you're still riding.

Sorry to hear about the tornado. My parents live in Central Florida and have had some close calls with storms. There was a tornado last year that by some miracle skipped over there house but leveled brick houses less than a mile away. Hopefully you lost nothing that is irreplacable.

Good luck with the house repairs and we certainly have forums about things like that, too, so feel free to ask anything you'd like.
