I own a 2002 explorer. Lately it has given me nothing but grief. I replaced the xfer case because the front and rear drives were locked together, the clutch must have melted. While under there I did the xmission filter, a o2 sensor and the fuel filter. Man o Man what a dumb place for a fuel filter and that xmission drain and fill plug, dumb....just plain dumb. Before I got to do the xfer case I drove the explorer for 6 months without the front drive shaft just so I could get in and out of parking spots. Now that winter is over and the snow is gone I have a 4x4 again.
I also did the front brakes with new rotors and now I have a vibration which feels like it is in front. I pulled the front drive shaft but still have the vib. I read in this forum that it may be the front rotors. I will get them checked ASAP.
