Hi everybody...

Here's my Ford Explorer story. Up until a couple days ago my only set of wheels was a '97 Neon. I knew I needed a new car and I had been casually browsing for one, but I wasn't in any hurry. As I jokingly told my friends "I don't need a new car, I've still got some paint left on the old one." :rolleyes:I had one of those Neons that for some reason the paint started coming off after nine or so years.

I won't bore you with the details but a late night collision while driving my Neon put me in the 'right now' market for a new car.

Long story short I ended up with a 2005 Explorer XLT. Kind of Champagne colored with a funky decal running from front to back. The decal's kind of growing on me however.

I love this car.:D I work as a IP support technician for an ISP providor. For the last 2 days I couldn't sit still at work because all I could think about is driving the car. More on that later.

A couple technical questions is what led me to this group and I was very glad to find it. I look forward to communicating with anyone who will have me.

I read the rules so I know not to ask the technical questions here. I'll save that for tomorrow or so since it's getting past my bedtime.

welcome

Welcome to this forum! The Explorer is more luxurious than a Neon. I don't like the seats in the Neon. They are hard, and I felt like I was sitting on the floor. The Explorer is harder to park, maneuver around double parked cars on a narrow street, and eats more gas, but is a better choice if you want to be comfortable on long trips with the family.

Quite Right... Another big advantage of the Explorer over the Neon is this; if you have bad knees--like I do--it's so much nicer to gently drop down out of the Explorer onto the street, than to exit the Neon while sitting about 18" off the ground and then have to stand up.
