Hi, I have a 2006 Explorer XLT 4L 4WD that I would like to continue to drive as long as possible, but sadly it's having issues I can't solve. I'm looking forward to learning from all your experiences and hopefully gaining enough knowledge to fix it so I can enjoy it a little longer.
I'm not a mechanic, but I'm pretty good at figuring out how most mechanical things work. I used to help my father when he would work on our cars. He restores old classic cars. He did a hot rod and is now doing an El Camino. Unfortunately, I don't live on the mainland anymore and I can only call him when I have questions.
I have owned my vehicle for 5 years. It was maintained pretty well by the previous owner, I'm owner #2. I try to do oil changes regularly and fix things when they pop up, but money can be tight, some fixes take a while for me to fix due to lack of funds. I have done a few easy fixes myself, more difficult I hire a mechanic to do it.
I'm now having issues that even my mechanic isn't sure what it is and I can't keep throwing money at the problem with no fix. I hope someone here has the knowledge I need to finally fix my explorer.
