2001 Sport Utility
HI I am Blake and just purchased a 2001 Explorer Sport Utility 4WD earlier this summer and I live in an APT so I cannot do much but since Ive had it, I have treated most rust on frame and unibody , oil change , A/T pan drop, four new tires , ( Good year Wrangler Duratracks ) new shocks all the way around , ( oespectums in fornt and load adjuster coil overs rear. , new rear rotors and pads and new emergency brake shoes . anyway...,
I noticed that my truck is aprox 1" lower on left side so I beefed up the springs with Hellwig Lp 15 # 815 HD helpers on the left and light duty EZ550s . on the right . I ended up with the rear lifted on both sides and I am still at least 1/2 ' lower on the left. so anyway ,,, I noticed that the front is also out even worse and im thinkin that maybe previous owner lifted the torsion bars . ( never dealt with torsions before .) why I just joined this forum . Im thinkin that I should now try to lower the front right side a bit . That should bring the left rear up a bit and even it out in the front , because the ( lower ) left front , is still sitting pretty dam high , like perfect. anyway I will just add that the leaf spring helpers ,, wow make a big difference in handling ,better stopping , turning , lessroll etc. only one drw back that I noticed is that there is no shackle for a 5th ,/ thrd shock , stabilizer , on the frame but there is one on the diff. housing.

Welcome Blake.

Welcome.

Perhaps a previous owner changed the rear end? I know my 99 2 door had neither mount but my 4 door has both mounts (and a very dead stabilizer). Maybe someone more fluent in 4doors knows what Fords criteria is for having the stabilizer.
I do know that mine is riveted to the frame on my 99 4 door.
