well i would lke to start off by saying hi and thanks to anyone who may be able to help me I have a 98 mountaineer 5.0 awd and the other day the regulator hung on the alternator we replaced it but now the signals dont work along with the hazard lights , the speedometer, tach, voltage gauge , and oil pressure gauge do not work in the cluster but the fuel gauge and water temp do . the keyless entry quit working and the keys wil not open the doors if i lock them however once i got in and unlocked them the keys worked the doors again this is confusing me unless it is multiple things .I have checked all the fuses and they are fine i would really appreciate any help thanks again jon

Did you get the same Alt? I know sometimes they offer more than one and you may need a higher output. Or, you could have blown a few fuses/relays when the old Alt crapped out on you.

Did you check the interior fuses, or both the interior and the ones under the hood as well?

got he same altenator im thinking it may have fried the body control modules ? but im not sure on this one it would help i i had a better understanding of how the cluster gets its input since part of it is working..

I wouldn't think anything would get fried except the battery by a stuck voltage regulator. and I would think any kind of control module would be on a protected circuit and fuses and breakers won't let any more current through than they're rated for.

me to but everything was fine until that happend its just one of those things i tried using the turn signal again yesterday and the flasher got hung and was stuck buzzing im thinking its bad and thats why the flasher isnt working ?

You should check your battery out. Sounds to me like its a combo of battery and alt issues. Reason I say this is because you said your turn signal made a buzzing sound and "hung" when there isn't enuff juice this happens so it could be your problem. Also it wouldn't be the first time a brand new alt failed.
