Hey all,
Just joined the forums today and wanted to say HI! I've just bought a 93 Explorer sport 2D 4wd 5 speed, I'm going to pick it up next Saturday. I'm not new to older vehicles at all, I also own a 82 Trans Am that I built from the ground up, so I'm a decent DIY guy. But I've never owned a Truck, or a 4wd, or anything off road except my dirt bike when I was a kid! LOL
This thing just kind of fell into my lap, I had a chance to buy it when we suddenly found a need for a second car (the TA has a sick tranny and I don't have the time or money for the swap to a 700r4 like I want right now). So anyway, was in need of a car like NOW, and found a guy who's selling it to me on cheap payment so couldn't pass it up.
I've been wanting a truck for some time, I've wanted something to tow with and also something to play with a little off road. Mainly this truck is going to be a daily driver too and from work, with a 250 mile interstate trip every other weekend to get my son. So my main concern is going to be keeping it reliable and decent on gas, or as decent as I can get. Second concern is play, I do want to be able to do some light to moderate off roading.
Let's see, the truck is the dark green kind of teal explorer color, two doors, 5 speed, 4wd with the auto hubs still, power everything, moon roof, and currently has the rear facing 3rd row seating that's getting yanked as soon as I bring it home (need that space for camping stuff!!) Seems to run real stong, with a couple of little things wrong. Shows 60000 on the OD, and the seller claims that's the original miles, that's what he was told. I'm thinking it's more like 160000. Mainly I'm judging by the wear on the emergency break peddle. But it could truly be 60000 and just 16 years old because other parts are not a worn as I would expect from a 160000 mile truck. So not sure really.
Anyway, good to be here and hope to talk to you all during my Explorer Adventure!

Pictures! Pictures! Pictures!

:)

Yeah, It has the rear facing 3rd row seating, even looks stock, the fabric seems to be the same fabric as on the rest of the interior, but to my knowledge they didn't come stock that way so I'm thinking it was an after market add on that used stock fabric. Plus it's doesn't have any kind of quick release, you have to unbolt it to remove it and I would think for cargo reasons that Ford would have made it quick release if it was stock. But I'm going to keep it, has seat belts and everything, so if I ever need to seat 6 I can. Just going to store it in the house, maybe a little couch for the kids? LOL

As for pics, well I'll get some up as soon as I pick up the truck. It looks real good for a 93, body is almost 100%, and the original paint is still looking good! Got some rust in strange places I'm going to have to deal with, but that's the breaks.
