1992 XL Ex-Police
Hi, I just signed on here and I will tell you guys a little about my Explorer.
It is a Mocha brown 1992 XL with 150,000 KMS on it. It is an ex police unit that did not have any visible lights as they were hidden in the grille and behind the rear glass.
My dad bought it from the government auction in 1996 With 100,000 KMS on it for $12,200 canadian. He then bought a green 1994 ex police explorer in 1998 for $10,00.
He then proceded to buy two other identical police explorers four years later. One of them is the next vehicle off the line from mine. Its V.I.N. number is one off of mine. The other one is five before mine in sequence. They are all identical except mine has the trim on the side witch was very rare on a police vehicle.
The upside about an x police vehicle is that it has already been modified in the engine compartment to accomodate a second battery and had all the wiring for extra lights etc...
The other strange thing about all three is that The color of it is the Eddie Bauer brown from 1992 but solid one tone without the lower tan highlight. We have only seen two other 4 door explorers painted this way besides our three.
I will try to get a link for a picture of all three together so you can see what I mean. That is all for now so happy trails....

Welcome to the site Crankcase!

Sounds like you have some pretty unique Explorers in your family. You're definately going to have to get some photos for us! Are you planning on doing any other mods to your truck? It's rather interesting that you have cars so near each other from Ford.

Glad you found us here and I look forward to some photos!

Happy postin'!:)

Right now it is basically just stock, but very soon I am going to put on 30 inch tires and a warn winch with front bush guard/off road light/fog light combo.
I am also going to upgrade the stereo system and mount the amp in behind the panel where the stock one would be.
I would be getting bigger tires but I dont want to have to lift it or change any axle ratios and that is the biggest I can put on without changing any thing right?

Welcome to the site! :D

I was searching for Government auctions :p
