I was just wondering if anyone could recommend a good kit to buy for my 99 x. I have read a ton of threads and cant rlly chose, I know ebay has them for as little as 40 but idk how good those work. I want something that works rlly good and bright. I would like HIDs for my highs and lows if possible. Thanks

I will second DDM Tuning. I got mine from there a couple months ago, and no problems yet. They work and look great.

I did I have some install problems, but those were mostly my fault. I will, however, advise you to not use the double-sided tape they provide for mounting the ballasts. Mine both came undone the next day and I got home from school, looked at the X and saw my ballasts hanging down below my bumper. :thumbdwn: They still worked, but I don't think they're made to hang lol.
I used zip-ties for now, and later I'm planning on making a little bracket of my own.

alright so the DDM Tuning is pretty good. Do they make a big difference in the light output compared to stock. And what about the high and low, with the normal kit do I still have the high and low beam in both HID or do I have to buy the Hi/Lo kit with only the low being HID.

So called "bi-xenon" kits (hi-lo) are junk. All they do is move the light capsule up and down and shift around an already blotchy light pattern to another place on the road. You only have one light bulb with these kits. I've had two different bi-xenon kits and they both sucked. I found no improvement in visibility in the "high" mode with either kit. Stick with a single beam (low only). You won't have any need for high beams with HIDs.

Or consider projector headlights with HIDs in the low and halogen in the highs. I love that option myself. Best lighting option for 2nd gen short of doing a HID retrofit.

what about the ones that has the halogen bulb in stead of HIDs any good. If not I Will probably order the normal 6000k 55w for my headlights and fog lights

Go with hids they blow halogen out of the water. If your gonna get ones for the fogs I would recomend getting 35w for those as to 55w burn a little hotter and especially in a small space light the fog light housing. I went with a company called hidcountry.com and i am very satisfied with the outcome. Here is what I have in mine i have a 2002 x check out the video i have 20k for the low beam and 3000k for the fog light.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B6LIl-TvDmY

Yeah, they make a huge difference. Much, much brighter and white light output. But, it is true for optimal performance, you need projectors, but it's an upgrade even without projectors.

I have 35 watt 6000k in my stock housings and I love it. Some people say it blinds other drivers, but I've had mine in since early March and nary a soul has flashed its lights at me.

Plus you can't beat the price and warranty. I bought the cheapest set for like $30 (which is cheaper than some of the expensive halogen bulbs) and they have a lifetime warranty.

So is it better to just go with just low instead of the hi/low combo? Also whats the difference between 35w and 55w thanks?

for your truck you only have one bulb which controls the high and low beam, if you get the normal ones nothing will happen when u hit the brights they do sell dual filament hids for your type of bulb. 55w burns hotter and brighter and will take more power to turn on in the begining 55w also tends to make the color lighter so if u had 8000k in a 55w it might look like 6000k 35w. i would go with the 35w as to you dont want to burn out anything or get flickering. I noticed more flickering problems with 55w hids rather than 35w.
