As many of you know i have the piaa pro90 xt fog and driving lights
i have also done a mountaineer conversion and bought a 7,000 K HID kit last week from a new company where i can get them for very cheap (if anyones interested i may be becoming a distributor)
i currently have the auto dimming mirror (self-turning on lights whatever you want to call them)
i have a back-up camera and no screen to display its image on without using a video switcher for now and displaying it on my 11"- i'd much rather have a smaller screen dedicated to that (and for my hu display while listening to cd's rather than dvds- it doesn't have one).
here's what i was thinking-
1. ditch the autodimming mirror since its bad for all my expensive bulbs to be on while the truck starts anyways (remote start)
2. replace the mirror with a mirror with a 2.5" lcd screen frenched in
3. splice into the factory stalk switch so that the piaa fog lights are on whenever the head lights are on
4. splice into the factory stalk so that the brights (the hid kit doesn't have any brights) turn on my pro 90 driving lights
it seems to me that is the cleanest way of doing it all. I ran an external switch last year to my piaa's independent of my factory stuff and it sort of sucked turning them on and off on 2-lane roads when cars came etc. it woudl be really nice to make it all integrated like this.
Do you see any drawback to wiring it all that way? legality doens't really matter
also, i know my hid kit doesn't have brights, but what does that mean happens when you switch the factory stalk into the 'brights' position? do the hid's go off? i hope the just turn completely off.
what do you think?
p.s.- where can i buy red led turn signals and dual filament tail/brake leds for the rear of the truck?
