Ok well my friend has an 05 chevy impala and he wants to put hids on it, but i explained to him about the day time running lights etc... so he came up with the idea of putting them in the high beam spot in the headlight instead of the low beam location.

would this work?
would it mess up the wireing or anything?

-thanks

When HIDs first come on they put out almost no light. They have to warm up for a few seconds. So when you hit the high beams and the low beams go out your gonna have no light for 2 or 3 secnods or so. Thats a long time to go at speed at night being blind.
Might better use the DRL wire to trigger a relay that supplies full power to the HIDs thru a harness and just have them on all the time. Or figure out how to defeat the DRLs.

Yep unless you want to try to get ahold of some Volkswagon Highbeam HIDs. Good luck with that ;-) No one I have talked to knows how VW does it (heck, no one has even seen what ballast or bulb is used let alone the projector).
