I’m gonna nominate Mr. Alligator, his 2nd gen has over 500,000 on it and he just got back from 6,000 road trip.

I saw someone in here with over 600k, might be Mr Alligator

I’m at 321k going strong

You mean highest miles with NO INTERNAL engine work needed / done ...correct? ....your XLS (4.0 OHV) should make it to 400K and beyond as long as you don't overheat it. Do you have the same heads and head gaskets on it ??
I recently came across an Explorer for sale and the guy's 4.0 ohv was at 336,000 with all original internals and ran smooth. There's a few Explorers with ohv's on Youtube videotaping their ohv's turning over to 400K on video and in comments it's implied no internal work done.

I have to say I've been seeing lots of built explorers lately
2nd gen comeback

IF you’re talking about no internal engine or trans work, that’s gonna cut waaaaaay down on the ‘high mileage’ guys in here. Especially for the SOHC/5R55E guys

Very rare to see a true high mileage truck without at least a trans rebuild

Trans left out of survey.... highest mileage engines...

Here we go…. Not all miles on original engine, or transmission.

But I don’t really get it…. change the spark plugs, mileage is ok, sure. Change the fuel injectors, mileage is ok, sure. Rewire the entire truck, mileage is ok, sure. Change the chains and guides, probably not, mileage not ok. Lots of body work, mileage still ok, I guess. Rebuild your own engine, not sure if mileage still counts. Have a rebuilt engine installed, that Is not OK, mileage is no longer “authentic”. And transmission rebuild means that mileage does not count? What about the transfer case? Or differentials?

My rig is absolutely NOT a numbers matching collectors vehicle, if there is such a thing. But the mileage is there. Everything wears out, you just have to keep after it. And this Forum provides the information for that.

Even if we start today, with my 20+ year old rig and 550k+ miles, I bet my truck will outlive and outlast most 2021 brand new vehicles.…

Go Second Generation. Take care, and drive safe!

At nearly 560k miles I think you deserve at least one tranny and engine replacement/rebuild.

The frame rot for a lot of the Tacomas was far worse than and engine rebuild for miles comparison.
Climate has a lot to do with rot. My dad had to retire his 86 ford ranger due to rust and electrical issues. 330K miles in 20 years with no engine work ever done. My 90 year old friend has 400K on his 67 C10 truck. He did a diesel swap at 100K miles though. Everything else down to the clutch disc is original. 55 years on the original clutch in a daily driver is impressive. Condensation forms between the interior metal headliner and the body so the truck is rusting from the inside out.

251,881 miles as it sits right now on my 98. 4.0 SOHC and 5R55E auto all original and no rebuilds on the engine or transmission. Definitely not as high as others, but pretty good considering nothing has been replaced or opened up.

Gee, I dunno. My odometer worm gear went many years ago. I am perpetually at 193K miles. Is there any other way to check mileage?

I'v
Who has the biggest miles? I'm shooting for 400k but I'm at 359k right now. I'll make it. Who's higher?
I've got 265,000 on my 98 XLT with a SOHV/5R55E combo. change oil every 5000 mi or so and service Trans every 30,000 mi or so. she's getting kinda rusty but still runs like a champ.

I took Bernadette, my 1995 to 754k before she was retired with the original engine, 2 transfer cases, and 3 transmissions.

WOW.... so how long did the original heads / head gaskets last ??

Connect OBD2 adapter, read mileage calculated from wheel rotation totals, prorate for deviation from stock tire diameter if larger/smaller tires were installed and proportion of mileage for each size.

No figure will be exact, of course. Or at least, there's no absolute standard to compare against. Just trying to get a ballpark accurate total...for things such as taunting your friends about how their newer vehicles don't have a prayer of reaching anything comparable.

(And c'mon, the worm gear is an easy fix!)

Original heads but I lost cylinder 5 at the end of its life and I'm sure it was a cylinder head issue. I think I blew the valves by the sounds it was making
