Everytime I switch to high-beams my fog lights are automatically shut off and I find that really irritating. Does anybody out there know if it is possible to disable this feature? Thanks!

legally they arent allowed to be on at the same time and why would you want both on? they basically render the other one useless in a situation where you would actually need one of them..... hi for long and far and fog for near and wide

Yes it is possible. I did it to mine. Search for a thread on it. One of them has a very detailed description on how to do it.

How can I search? I am new to the site and I have tried searching for a thread and only found my own..

I really would like to do it to mine. I can always turn off the foglights if in a situation where I don't need them. But most of the time I find it more helpful to have them on

Well this is the thread where I found the instructions on how to do mine. I cant guaranty that it will be the same for the 99+ explorers but you can check it out.

Thanks for the help, and for finding that thread for me. I'm going to try it once I get home. It should be the same for 95-01 models I don't know.. at least 98-00 should I think. I'm afraid of damaging something since I don't much at all about relays, I may need more detailed explanation I'm not very knowledgeable in this area.

Things changed starting in 99. For my 98, the fogs would only turn on with the low beams. I'm pretty sure that your 00 has them on with the parking lights and low beams. All that means is that the fog wires are on the parking light circuit for you and on the low beam circuit for me. As far as wire colors go... they may not be the same, I dont know.

Yes, the fog lights do turn on with the parking lights and or low beams.

How can I do it so they'll stay on with high beams on? Has anyone out there done in a 99 or 2000 Explorer?

I did this on my '98. It is set up so the fogs come on with the parking lights, and stay on with high or low beams. I got the instructions from Taxxman2k. They were easy to follow, and took about 10-15 minutes. There is also another thread on here somewhere that tells how to set it up so the fogs come on whenever you push the button-wether the parking lights are on or off.

bruno

i did this to my fogs on my '00.

you can do a search of my posts and find info if you still need it.

taxxman2 was the member who originally posted the instructions.

it should work on any explorer from '97 to '01 model.

That is how I set mine up. All you have to do is, instead of connecting the fog wire to the parking light circuit, just connect it to something that comes on when you start the truck. Piece of cake.

Sorry, Bruno, I know that doesnt help you very much but I'm sure someone will stop by soon and tell you how it's done on the 99-01 explorers.

Hey no problem, thanks for all the help. I'll keep checking..

bruno
