Just got my 2012 Explorer Limited this week. 301A, regular headlamps. I notice that the low beam aiming seems like other cars I have had, but when I switch on the high beams it seems to me that a lot of lot of light goes really high into the trees overhead. The road ahead is fairly well illuminated, but there just seems be so much light going up I wonder if they are aimed right? Could the low beams be. Right and the highs be set way too high or is this familiar it normal to other owners?

You could certainly have them checked, but I would not be surprised if they are correct. Mine aswell seem very very bright, encompassing the road, sides etc, But I rarely had to put my brights on my last car for some reason and doubt the need to do so for my XLT.

I do not think that theu can be adjusted individually, ther is a shutter inside that open and closes hor high beams.

I believe only the HID lamps use a shutter. He indicated he has the regular headlights.
