A buddy of mine has this relay on his c***y truck that brings on his lows at the same time as his highs. I can't seem to find this thing anywhere! Help!

i dont think a kit is available for our explorers to do this, and frankly, it probably kills the headlights. on chevy's and other cars the high beams and low beams are seperate bulbs using seperate lenses so it is probably safe to run them like that. on explorers, the high beams and low beams are inside the same bulb, therefore, when used at the same time the heat given off is increddible, and probably degrades the bulbs life extremely, you can probably rig a relay to activate them both at the same time but i wouldnt recommend it. i wish there was a better way to do it, because there is a ton of light being thrown out there with both high and low beams on at the same time.

Dang! That's a bummer..thanks taco!

On early model Explorers like mine, you can move the turn signal foward or backward- I can't remember which- to turn both on at the same time. It won't stay, you have to hold it so it would be for if you need it for a few seconds. I don't know about the late models. Just thought I would let you know even though you probably do.

Yeah Brian, on mine you pull the stalk back-"flash to pass" or "hey you're blindin' me ya dingbat!" and hold it-it's really nice when all four filaments are cooking, but tacO's right-it's bound to shorten the bulb life. But then again, bulbs aren't that expensive...surely they would last a year, right? I mean, unless you live in the sticks you're not using the brights THAT much...what about heat? Damage to the lens? And where could a relay like that be found? Hmmm.....inquiring minds HAVE to know!! Thanks guys..

like i said, i dont think a kit is available but if you really want it you can wire it up yourself. all you have to do is find the wire that powers your high beams and the wire that powers you low beams. using an automotive relay ($3-$4) just rig it so whenever your high beams are on, your low beams will get power too, the relay package will give you a diagrahm of how it works. you could just as easily wire up a set of KC's (or hella or piaa) to your high beams and put out more light than almost any stock headlights could. thats going to be about the only way i can have high beams after i do my HID conversion. and with a second set of lights, your stock headlights will probably last alot longer.
