Low & high beams on at the same time?

When you turn on your high beams your Low's turn off...

What can I do to leave the Low's on when the highs are on?

My low beams turn off also when my highs come on.
When my fogs are on and i switch to the high beam the fogs and low beams turn off

Here is why:

If you look into your main headlight you only have one bulb. There are two fillaments in that bulb, one for the lows and another for the highs. If you were to wire it so they both stayed on at the same time (i think this is actually impossible correct me if i a wrong) your bubls will die and you be singing a song like this

I am not sure if ghoster understands your question or if he made some kind of mod to let them come on at the same time.

If you just want more light add some 55w driving lights

Sorry sir, but you are mistaken.

Not only is this accomplished with the Brite Box, but can also be done by "fiddling with" the MF switch stalk.

I have had no issue with burned out bulbs while using the Brite Box for two years now.

well actually the 4th gen explorers use type 9007 bulbs with dual filament

the 3rd gens (02-05) use separate highs and lows which are 9006 and 9005 bulbs... mine stay on at the same time when i activate the highs so idk how urs is any diff

Okay here it goes again.

I realize that there are only two bulbs in normal driving lights, i also realize that there are two filaments. Like the original post when i turn my brights on my driving lights turn off. If my driving lights and fogs are on they both turn off when i turn the brights on.

For my 03 Sport Trac, most comparable to the 98-2001 Explorers, when you pull the stalk toward you for "temporary" high beams the low beams stay ON and fogs turn OFF.

When i push the stalk forward for high beams the low beams will turn OFF and fogs OFF too.

This may be obvious to some but just wanted to make it clear.
This is a completely stock setup.

I would guess Ford would not change the control of the high beams from the different generations but i have not driven any new Explorers lately.

I can't remember what the vehicle was but I remember that if you held both beams on for like a minute it would disable that function for a short while

Not quite, it doesn't stay on, I just need to hold it back as long as I want them both on.
