Just found this site....have a 2011 Ltd with ~ 1,000 miles on it. Not sure if we didn't pay attention til now, but noticed a high pitched sound (like a ringing noise) after the car is turned off completely. Not sure if it is the headlamps (HID) or simply the electronics shutting down.

I've also noticed that the belts when shutting down make a higher pitched noise and slowly spool down. This is unrelated to the noise above and clearly is the engine. Not sure if it is a serpentine belt (I'm not an engine guy by any means), but curious if any other 2011 owners experience this as well.

Noticed the high pitch noise sometimes as well,it does go away by itself. Do you have the BLIS thinking it maybe that.

Yes, I do have Bliss. I'm guessing it is just the electronics going through its shutdown, similar to a computer. It's a faint sound, kinda like that high pitched sound you hear when there is TV or some electronics running.

As for the fans/belts noise, any owners hear this? Sounds almost like they are just winding down, but they are a higher pitched sound.

i think it is the same noise i am talking about does it last for a few seconds after turn the car off? its most likely the drivers side radiator fan. park it in front of a wall or in a garage and safely watch the fan stop

Yes...exact sound. I haven't popped the hood to look, but yes. Kind of like the fan just spools down for a few seconds after you shutoff the engine.

Yup, mine does it too. Just confirmed today. Drivers side fan spinning down.

cool so it is a "normal sound"

Yea, it probably should not sound like that. But it's not going to hurt anything, it's just annoying.

Yup mine has the fan noise too at 300 miles it will be going back for that, fan bearings shouldnt make that noise soo soon maybe 300k miles....

Mine as well. Getting close to 3K and I haven't heard it for a while now. Hopefully it was just during the "break-in" period. Let ya know if this changes.

I was thinking the same thing. Since it's not that big of a deal to just wait for a bit.

I have the same high pitch sound on my Edge Sport 3.7. Have no idea what it is, but when I park at night and its silent out j can hear it clearly. The first time I heard it I thought I was suffering from tinitus!

It has the Blss system.

Hey Hopper!

My name is Seni; I'm with Ford Customer Service. It seems that you and the others may know where the sound is coming from. However, if you still find yourself uneasy about the noises, I recommend visiting your servicing dealer to have it properly diagnosed. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me.

Seni :)

I have the exact same problem. Thats an annoying sound! Has anybody taken their car to the dealer? What did they say? Is it fixable?

Mine comes and goes. But it does seem to be doing it less lately.

Certainly the hid headlamps have a very high pitch sound too (more noticeable when the car is inside the garage) but I'm sure that's not the noise we are talking about.

Posted on fb, it is the electric fan spinning down. Dealer has replaced and that stopped the squeal.

I have this noise, also, service writer said it is a "control box venting" doesn't sound correct. BUT, service manager found a bad fan and will correct it! Will advise if corrects problem
