On my way back from the CCR trip, I was fighting the oddest thing. Sometimes, I would get a pretty serious vibration at speeds 55+. It feels like a wheel out of balance. I say "odd" because sometimes the truck shakes, sometimes it doesn't. I had 400 miles to diagnose this problem, and factors I've ruled out are acceleration, deceleration, turning, braking, and road condition. It honestly just comes and goes as it pleases. And when it decides to have the vibration, the whole truck shakes.... bad. I'm planning to tear into it this week, and just would like some input on things to look for. Thanks!

Some other info if it helps... The following parts are new just before the trip
front and rear wheel bearings
both cv's
steering rack
tires just rotated
torsion twist and shackles
aussie locker in back

Sounds very much like a the exact problem I had except that I could pinpoint the time/date and event - new non-hubcentric rims. I bought some custom hub rings online and automagically - no more vibration. Looks like you have custom rims as well. maybe one or more suddenly shifted slightly knocking you out of perfect alignment?

Same here--with 2 different sets of tires wheels.
I am now suspecting the passenger side front axle bearing, inside the tube.

The vibration is wheel speed related in my truck, so I know it isn't a drive shaft.

all the ujoints and both cvs are tight. I happened to glance in my mirror today and noticed my drivers side rear tire tracking along the lines of this

Any idea what would cause this besides a bent axle shaft? I hope its not the housing, but regardless, I have a spare haha.

Remeber asking about the weird noise on that side back there?

James-jah81592, recently experienced a vibration which he had chased for a long time, turn into a broken rear axle, which ended in catastrophic results.

Your rear axle must be bent in order for this to happen, unless it is the wheel itself????

I need to check mine out also I reckon

I didn't notice the tracking problem nor vibration on the way to Ouray is the odd thing. The runs I did didn't put that much force on those axles, or so I thought. That noise was there since I swapped the axles, and since it came from a pull it yard, I just thought the dust shield might have gotten tweaked a bit since the truck was resting on them. One more thought, when I pulled the rotor, there were 2 push nuts on 2 wheel studs. Those definitely didn't get put back on, as mine never had them. I wonder......
