i heard a hissing noise coming from under the dash today, i couldnt figure out what it was so i looked up under there and found this little transparent T shaped thing that was "sucking" air.

it must have come undone from the black capsule-like thing under the dash. (i have no idea what it is?) while driving the backroads on a camping trip last weekend.

i put it back on and it seemed to stop, but what is that thing and what does it do?

also, its pretty loose now and im wondering what i should do about that.

thanks you guys :D

i'll try my best to draw it in paint when i am off of work tonight.

Yup, it's for the blend air doors for the heater controls. They're vacuum operated. The little black thing is a vacuum reservoir, so your modes don't change when you're on the throttle hard and the engine isn't making vacuum.
Make sure your modes change from vent to heat to defrost, etc. correctly. If they do, then you got it hooked back up correctly.

holy crap i just found the thread that i was looking for damn im lucky!!

same problem...i got off work at 6am and drove with the a/c on to my house (approx. 15mins away) well i had to run my girl to work at 7a and when i started the truck of course cold air on hot glass (vice versa) equals fogged window so i used the defrost until it cleared and afterwards i turned the entire a/c-heater off. i went home passed out woke up at 3p and now it will not change to a/c it is stuck on defrost where do i start on getting a fix for this and this has to do with the vac lines right?? i have a can of starter fluid(02 sensor safe) and will test for leaks tom as i work at night all night

if it is the vac lines i want to just replace them all but i need a diagram for 95 xlt 4x4 sohc just to make sure all is connected properly

do i need anything else with the 6' of hose im buying??

wow i am a dumb*ss cuz i didnt even see that there was a vac line undone from the purge canister hahahaha thanks anyways though and i guess next time i will look before i leap hahaha!!:D
