I really don't like the OEM backup lights, but I don't want to mess with (At least not yet) with trying to install a set of lamps beneath the bumper.

I saw this in the latest Cabela's catalog and wondered if anyone else was using one. It looked like a good and rather cheap way to extra illumination while backing up.

Your thoughts?

Other than being plugged in, how will it stay in? I see no way to lock it in.

It would not help in my situation because I have trouble backing the trailer up at night where we live due to lack of lighting. If its in the plug, then I cant have the trailer hooked up.

For $30 plus shipping, I think you could find a cheap set of lights for the bumper.

Well, yeah, it's a givin that I wouldn't have it installed when I was towing a trailer. ;)

I was wondering the same thing about how it is secured... Looks kinda easy to steal if I was to leave it in there...:thumbdwn:

Optilux, by Hella, or at least with a Hella name, has some cheap fogs that are great back up lights. (model 1200) Easily mounted under the bumper, low profile so they dont stick out, and appx. $30. or so. Pilot has some also.
I think for the extra effort of mounting & wiring they will be much more usefull than the one from Cabella.
I have some PIAA 1400's under the bumper and the wife loves the extra light on "her" Mounty. I got them used on Ebay.
