Welcome to the site klaus. I'm not sure where St. Charles is but if you are interested check out the link below KCAreaExplorers. There is currently 12 of us. All but one is a member of Serious Explorerations.

Dan,

St. Charles is on the other of MO from you, we are just west of St. Louis county, approximately 18 miles from downtown St. Louis.

Thanks for offering your web site for review, enjoyed it though I have not had a lot of interest of going into the dirt unless I have to. Though who knows what the future might bring. For the time being I'll stich with mostly paved surfaces.

Thanks for your correspondence!!

Klaus

klaus, Hello, Fellow STL'er! I actually live in Pacific, MO 40 miles west out 44. However, I work in Maryland Heights. Is your X for street or off road? Got any pics? Where do you work?

Matt, greetings. Sorry it took this long to respond to your msg. Been pretty busy running my consulting business.

FYI, my Explorer is basically for street use; modifications include a MAC air intake (K&N) type filter, a MAC exhaust system with 3" pipe feeding into a dual tip Hooker with resonator. Engine is a 5.0L, which I have ordered a chip for to try to improve overall performance as well as trans. shifting. Other than that, the vehicle is stock.

Having driven for more years than most of the people on this board are old, I am no longer willing to subject myself to 4 wheeling in the wilds so I stay on paved roads, with occasional excursion into non-paved territory.

Still enjoy driving fast, depending on my Valentine One to keep me from the friendly MHP.

Take care!

Klaus

btw, I probably pass through Pacific at least once to twice a month. Nice area though I noticed quite a few new homes being built.

Klaus,

Yea, the area is really growing. See ya arround. Oh, don't forget to upgrade from that Old Valentine One, to the Worlds best radar detector the Escort Passport 8500. :D

Matt,

Appreciate your suggestion, but I tried the 8500 in my wife's car and compared it against my Valentine. Guess what, I am getting my wife a Valentine One.

Check out Car and Driver Feb 2002 edition for their test results, though I do feel that the 8500 is a decent detector compared to the other ones out there. Heck, my first one was the original Escort, which was the best in its days.

Anyway, the important issue is not to get caught by Radar.

Best regards,

Klaus
