It's not just about "people yelling". There are dozens of great trails where I live, but when kids decide they want to come "wheeling" up the fire road behind my house, they should be lucky if my yelling is the only problem they run into. If illegal wheeling damages or blocks fire, utility or emergency access roads, drivers can be ticketed and thier trucks impounded. Try staying away from the "yelling" of the the local police, the forest service or worse yet, angry residents. Also keep in mind; if you don't care about their yelling and get stuck on their property, then they probably won't think twice about towing your truck out of a ditch upside down through a rock garden.

BTW: That "stick" in Jim's butt is called a SPINE :thumbsup:

lol, i dont off road illegaly (most of the time) and i would never go on emergency access roads, thats way to risky, what if there was a major fire? Im just sayin that i already know its bad, you dont have to say it over and over.
 












Hey 93. Go to www.maps.google.com and check out Hollister from above. It has real satelite imaging of Hollister so you can see all the spots to go 4x4'in. The Taco Bello run is right next to the IOOF cemetery.
To navigate the map dubble click the spot you want to see. That will center the map. Use the scroll bar on the left to zoom in or out. On the uper right there are 3 buttons MAP, SATELITE, and, HYBRID use hybrid it the most efective. Also check out the Dry river bed south of Hollister. There is a metic ass load of trails between Nash Rd. and Union Rd. Now I don't know if it is legal, but it is tolerated. Just don't do stupid things and be responsible. What your 16, it's never to early to be responsible. If someone asks you to leave, apologize and leave. Now here is the key to being responsible, DON'T go back at any time, people can remember a lot of cars and yours might be one of them. Don't be breaking $hit. I'm 19, I've been is a fair amount of trouble. And I'll be damed if 90% of the trouble wasn't breaking $hit in places I wasn't supposed to be. Have fun and tred lightly.
 






thx Feind, hey wanna come wheelin the weekend of 27-28? My mom said she would be fine with me going, but she wants to come, she wont ride with me though, so is there like a club house or sumthin where she can like sit and read a book while me, and possibly you, are out on the trails?
 












There is no club house. It's just roads. She Could Chill at taco bell. Take your mom with you on the trails. She might enjoy spending the time WITH you. The Hardcore 4x4'in is in the dry river bed. Taco Bello is so you can learn what you and your X can handle. Taco Bello is mostly a country lane until you come apon an old small quarry. The trails give you a sense of how wide your vehicle realy is, and how squirely a SUV can get on a dirt road. Last I checked there were some ruts that if hit wrong you will dislodge your tire. Things that you learn before you hit the Badlands. You need to learn where your stocker can go. Oh I saw your X, if this is going to be your only car for a while I would get some Dunlop Rovers or better yet some Pro Comps if you can get the dough. If you are going to be on road most of the time get the Rovers. Fairly good off the road and great on the road. No need to wast a Pro Comps tred on the freeway. Thats cash you could use for a KKM intake or that lift you want.(get the intake, it takes about an hour and it saves a fair amount of gas which also saves dough.)
 






To what Jim was saying. I am not in any way trying to advocate wrecklesness. The places that I decribed I know to be tolerant of 4 wheeling. As I have told 93, be careful and be respective. The reason 4 wheeling parks are closed are because some good o'l boys cut a lock off a gate and do doughnuts in a feild during the middle of a crops growth. I'm sorry if I gave the wrong impression about 4 wheeling. And you do have a very valid point. We all need to tred lightly and preserve the few areas we have to completely legaly off road.
 






hey i just found this link and i have had my explorer since i was in high school! (my senior year) and i am about to turn 20. being that your only 16 you should worry about a lil bit of performance before you go out to conqure the world! lol i took my time with mine, mainly cause i am not rich like the older gentlmen on here! but if you wanna go mudding i hope you have a pressure washer and a lift! i found out that 1st generation explorers like to hold mud under frame for ever! also the side skirts hold mud for ever! i was mudding out at carnige and i never had an issue! i lost my side skirt in the mud pit that used to be open! i also have pictures of things you can check out! here is the link to some things you can get into even at some place like carnige, flat land and all!

i cant afford the gas right now to just up and go on a trip like that! i need a couple things before i can just go like that! i need an oil change, transmission filter and money to do it all! lol i mean as you might have read on my signature i have the performance but i will not beat my ride if i can avoid it! but maybe some time! wanna go to carnige?
 


















carnige is not worth traveling that far to do some 4x4'ing!~ from you its about maybe 2 hours! they only have a 4x4 play area nothing major! just wait till gas prices go down! lol
 












93, Hollister Hills has some cool trails for stockers. I checked it out on monday. The tralils are set up like snowboard trails, green circle (easy as pie roads ), blue squares ( some what more difficult but still do-able with a stocker roads ) and, black dimonds and multible black diamonds ( I'm not even going call them roads. To call them roads would imply that there is some sort of level surface involved.) But dude if you get some better tires you would have no problem on the blue square trails. there very fun and if you can find your way to the top of the mountian, the view is magnificant. Certainly worth the five bucks to get in. And I might be able to do something the 28 if you can get some more people to go.
