When i got back to my girlfriends in Staines yesterday after seeing H i bought and paid for a pair of new front brake discs on ebay.

I drove the car home today (by the way H, 198 miles on exactly half a tank!) and the brake discs had been delivered at home this morning! Just got in from putting them on and the noise has completely gone!!!

Thanks again to H and to Duncan (who i never met in the end)

cheers
Si

Pleased you got home OK mate. Lets hope your experience does not put you off running an Ex. H says you have a great car in fabulous nick.

What good mileage mate- glad you got home safe and have a new set of disks fitted, take it east till the pads bed in again and you will be fine- If I can be of help to you again.........it will be a pleasure- that goes for any one local too guys.

Always a good thing to do, I think I will need a new set of disks next time I change pads, Howard has gone for the Green stuff pads and dimpled grooved pads, I may look into something like it also as if you gotta do it.............do it once and right eh?

I just put 'green pads' on my Ex. Be warned that they turn your wheels blacker than black!! I've never used pads that give off as much dust as these although it does wash off very easy.

dont you need grooved/drilled discs for them? iv always heard they are great for not producing that much dust

You can use green stuff pads with normal discs, but you might get better braking with uprated ones. You're absolutly right SB97 about the claimed cleanliness of the pads. I thought somebody had emptied the contents of their vacuum cleaner on my front wheels after my first decent length run.lol.
