I was wondering if i can get any other factory Ford hood on my truck without any major problems? I'm thinking about either the sport trac or the ranger edge. I like how those are raised so much. I've heard a lot of "nay's" , so im just posting to see.

I have been wondering the same thing. Do ranger hoods usually fit on our X's ? More info please.

Have you seen the neat glass hood that Troll is offering?

I like it but the price is way out there. Not to insult him or anything, but thats why i didnt see people all over his hood

hoods

well as far s the ranger hoods go, they are 43", and the explorers are 42" long, so if you wanted to buy a ranger hood, they are the same width but you would have to trim off an inch, you usually have to trim a fiberglass hood anyways. also accelrated race technology offers a hood for the explorer for $695.00. i am not sure if that is the same one that Troll has or not.

Accelerated Race Technology is Troll's company.

Those glass hoods are bomb tho i've only seen them on hypo cars and such. i've seen X's with custom fiberglass hoods tho.

I wanted to put a Ranger Edge Hood on my truck, so listen to what I did. Since I work part-time at Best Buy, I had the Install bay take my hood off. Then borrowing my buddies 98 Mustang I drove to the Ford Dealer across the road and talked to a salesmen and test drove a black Ranger Edge. I drove right to Best Buy and into the install bay, poped the hood. They immediatly stated to unbolt the hood and then moved it over to my Explorer sport. The hood back and sides matched up but the front lines were way off. The Ranger hood Wigs where mine Wags. So I cussed for a minute!:frustrate Then we bolted everything back up. Looked at the front end of the Ranger edge and decided that we would have to swap fenders, hood, Grill, and bumper assemblies to make the swap. Not a real bad idea but I think they would notice that. I was just going to drive back onto the lot and pull the Ranger right into it's spot and tell the salemen, No thanks and leave.

Oh, well:confused:

hehe :D tricky. great idea Magic. awesome X too ;)

I had (stress the word, HAD) a friend do something similar. He had a Mustang. He needed new tires. So he went to Enterprise rented a mustang for a weekend, and swapped tires.

Yes, he did get caught.
Yes, they did press charges.
Yes, he did go to jail.

You were just trying to see if the hood fit right? Ya weren't gonna swap em? :)

DAMN! went to jail??? that sucks!

No, I planed to swap them. It's a brand new shinny hood just like the new Ranger, same color. Since my hood was already off it was going to be a quick swap! I was going to right back and only be gone for like 8 minutes. With my hood ready to go all they had to do was unbolt the Ranger hood and bolt mine on and I was back at the dealer parking the Ranger in the far side of the lot where it came from.

Oh, when doing anything illegal like that or the tire thing. Use a fake ID with all false information.;)
