Hood Won't Open! Help!

Get a large pry bar & pry on it. Actually can you hear the cable disengage the latch when you pull on the release? Try spraying some wd-40 or PB blaster on the latch. And please don't try pulling on the release hard, it can snap the cable off.. If all else fails, get a 1/4" drive ratchet & 8mm socket along with some swivels & some extension and remove the latch.. Just remember the cable is still attached so hopefully you don't snap it off..

I popped the hood on an aunt's Lincoln MK6 by reaching from under with a hydraulic jack handle with the roll pin through the end. Catching the ear on the latch. Hood released.

I stayed after work today with a few other mechanics and worked on the hood latch. It was the cable - just stretched out. We are replacing the cable tomorrow or Wednesday. It's good working at a shop - discount on parts and free labor. Anyway, thanks for all of ya'lls help - I will most defilenlty lube up my latch once in awhile for now on.

Also, on another note - There was no corrosion around the latch itself. So i'm in good shape there.
