Hood Won't "Pop"

I am trying to get into my engine compartment, and the lever on the interior that is supposed to open the hood to the secondary placement won't work. I think the cable is stretched. How can I get the hood to open?

I just picked up a 93 XLT, and had the same problem. At the suggestion of the previous owner (before I signed the check) I just pulled the lever really hard and it popped right open. Over the past week I've been squirting PB Blaster into the locking mechanism and it's gotten much smoother!

ohhh ya.. PB blaster is the best !!

like said try to pull hard on the lever wile someone is out on the hood [pulling up and pushing down till it opens ! If it still wont open refer to my previous post
