Ok guys, I've already searched this place and found a few different answers. I've got a '02 Mountaineer with the factory sub and want to add my amp and subs that came out of my old truck. My problem is that I won't be putting an aftermarket head unit in. I have the factory 6 disc in dash and don't want to give that up. I've read on here about splicing RCAs into the singnal wires before the factory amp. I'd like a little more info. What color wires am I looking for and all that. Already have all my other wires ran, just need a little clairification on this part. Thanks in advance!

No one can help here? I know this has been done before I just need more details. What color wires am I looking for before the factory amp? Do I just cut off one end of my RCAs and splice them in to those wires? Somebody??

As far as that goes im not sure on the splicing because if ive got a factory amp i like to bypass it. But I know they sell something that is wireless and transmits a signal from the amp to the stock head unit but you will lose sound from the subs (volume rather) If i come across it ill get a link for you.

Dont know about wires color but you need a hi to low converter to hook aftermarket amp to stock HU, somebody post a nice one that goes into the factory sub to take everything you need.

I used a PAC OEM-2 to install an amp in a 96. Easy install. Even made the factory Ford 5V remote into a 12V, with delay, to avoid turn-on thumps.

What are the wire colors for the rear speakers in a 06 explorer? tryin to hook up a new amp with subs with the factory stereo but can't find wire colors.

your really better off just buying a headunit.. bypassing the factory amp is your best bet and its a pain in the rump with the stock headunit and usually fails.
