mikke I get about 230 or so pre tank right now.. I was getting 200.. but then I found that my tires had a pressure issue, it helped mileage alittle.. perhaps you should check yours, the weather is changing... that could have an impact on the pressure.
other than that. I'd say 200-250 is normal for the v8
I have a 98 XLT V8 and my truck gets about 290 miles to a tank. I was getting about 240 miles until I changed the wires and fuel filter. I also am in the process of changing the hubs in front and that will net me another mpg (the hubs have gone bad).
I have the v8 and get about 200-260 depending on how much highway miles i drive. I could probably squeeze out a little more but i dont like to drive with the needle on E.
I might hafta add.. the 230 or so I get per tank.. I drive pretty hard, so I might could cut 1 or 2 miles per tank if I had to granny it.. but thats not gonna happen.. its too slow.. you gotta work it to keep up
I run about 33 cold in mine. 33x12.5 XTerrians. The contact patch isn't quite as good as 30 psi, but the mileage and other stuff make up for it.
Oh, and yesterday I filled up after one of my worst tanks ever and the tank avg was 10mpg Of course, this is stop and go with the drives being an average of 1.5 miles and with a very heavy foot. Normal city I get about 13-14 mpg. What I do now is extreme duty.
I just went with a bigger tire (31x10.5) on mine and lost a little more mpg's.. Before I changed I would get 250 miles to a tank of gas. I changed my thermostat, fuel filter, plugs, wires and that didn't affect my mpg's at all.
