Hey guys...

I am currently driving a 2003 Ford Explorer XLT 4.6L v8. It has the original tires on currently, Michelin Cross Terrain P235 70 R16.

Now, I do not have a lift on my truck or any modifications, however I do want to go with an aggressive looking tire. I do a decent amount of backroad driving on fishing trips, however I must admit my new tires will be mainly for show.

How big of a tire can i go... The guy at the shop told me MAX. 245 70 16... however I have heard that larger is much possible and I have a buddy willing to install larger tires. I just want to know if they will fit before I order them.

I am looking at BF Goodrich Mud Terrain KM 255 70 R16... will these fit???

Thanks!!!

Cool man... I really hope that list is accurate!!!

I suppose I should have checked the stickies before making a thread... but what the hell!!

Anyone with Mud Terrains can let me know what their experiences were as well.

I'm gonna order the BF' Muddies in the next couple days!

with gas prices these days, I hope you realize you will lose alot of mpg with oversized tires.....enjoy them

I understand... I am just unwilling to let some oil tycoons control what I want to do with my life, and I really feel that others should do the same. Gas prices are about the 3 millionth most important crisis occurring in the world today, so I say FU*K IT.

Another NEWB question... I want my tires to look larger from a side view... not simply be wider. So that means that it is the sidewall aspect ratio that I am wanting to make larger. Width of tire is not a huge issue for me.

I guess if I want my tires to look high/big from the side I should go with a 75 instead of a 70 right?
