I am thinking about getting a new amp probably a 1200x1. Either JBL, Audiobahn, or a Phoenix Gold Tantrum, to run my W7. The problem is I have been told that my lights ARE going to dim as the bass hits. What can I do other than buying a new Alt. and/or battery to keep this from happening? Thanks, Scott

only thing to do:

Don't play any Rap, Hip-Hop, or other music with lots of bass.

Power Capacitors hold energy to keep from draining your battery, there about $150+

for the price of 2 caps you could a get 200amp alt and get some better wire to the battery and ground.... or for a little more than the 2 caps you could the alt and an optima battery.

u should run the caps and a new higher power alt im not sure if its true or not but i have expirenced alts burning out on my car and my friends car and i belive it was because the amp was in excess of 800watts in every case

but if u want a quick solution just get the capacitor...does he need 2? or just one

I have a 1 Farad Cap (lightning Audio) that I was planning to install with the amp. I heard that caps are just a temporary fix, not a solution. What size alternator do I have in my 02'? This audio thing really keeps me spending money. I got bit by the audio bug, and there is no cure.

Capicitors are not a short term fix they are their to save your newer cars electrical system from having so many surges through the whole system everytime your sub hits. The capicitors are'nt meant to put out more power constantly just for short burst of energy so you don't fry your wires.

if you do not make any battery or alternator upgrades you should run 1 farad cap for each 1000 watts of power. that's just a basic rule.
