How can I tell if my '99 Explorer Sport came with keyless entry?

Hello,

I just recently purchased a used (1999) Ford Explorer Sport. It has Power locks and windows, and I notice that the "Theft" light in the instrument cluster flashes every now and again while the truck is off. I did not get a Keyless Remote with the truck, but was wondering how to determine if it came with it or not, so I could order one from somewhere.

Any help would be appreciated

As far as I know, all the 2nd gen Sports came with the keyless entry and the remote entry. I could be wrong though....

Pop the jack compartment open, look up inside. If you see a white module with a 5-digit code on it, that's the RAP module, and yes, you have the keyless entry.

They're plastered all over eBay. Dead cheap for brand new.

Easiet way to tell, if you have a keypad on the door, you have keyless (remote) entry also.

And yes, the remote are all over eBay.

I needed a 2nd one when I bought my Mountaineer. Bought on on ebay (new) for about $10.

Go to www.fordpartsfast.com, if you have an XLS without a keypad you can get all you need there

Yes you can. My XLS didn't have the keypad, but had the remote fob.

awesome! i just ordered a remote ^_^ . 14$ on amazon.

Just bought the truck on Dec 31st, didn't come with remotes, but i have the theft light, and keypads.

Thought it was kind of odd that the ex wouldn't have it, since i had a 2000 mustang that had keyless entry..

gotta love this forum and it's massive information pool!
