How can u tell the difference w/ 91-94 X's?

The XLT looks like a base model but with same deer hoof rims as my 93 and it has a cheaper chrome luggage rack. Otherwise it has no power features at all I hate it.

The liftgate vent isn't noticable. There are ridges on the gate, and one side has holes inside.

As for the 93, the vents might be left over 92 pieces...

Interestiing on the uprights next to windows. My sport has black around the windows. A co-worker has the same almost identical 2dr sport as me but their uprights around the windows are painted to match the body blue. My blue sport has the black. I noticed that some navajos were mainly painted to match the vehicle.

I have another weird question. I was following a 1st gen X the other day. After a while I noticed that it didn't have a 3rd brake light. As I passed it I noticed that its headlights looked different then I realized that they didn't wrap around the side. There was an orange turn reflector under the headlight but no side reflector.

Where did this morphedite come from?

It's gotta be some homemade lights or something, because the way you explained it, the lights are illegal. It couldn't have left the factory like that.

By law, vehicles had to have the 3rd brake light after about the 1987 model year or so I think. My 87 Buick had a 3rd brake light, and it was the first year of that model to have one. (for example, I don't think the Buick Grand Nationals had one).

Regarding the broken line vs. solid bar on the a/c /heat controls, I agree Crankcase I like the solid bar of 91-92 better!! Too bad I have the broken line...it actually looks older to me than the solid bar.

Well I don't kn ow what it was but there was no 3rd b rake light and it was just a daily driver I got a good look at it while I was sitting behind it at a traffic light. The front lights looked completely stock. Did the Bronco2 lenses wrap the side up front?

I just got back from a trip to a wrecking yard. I found all sorts of bizarre interior stuff. I found an explorer with a combination of blue interior and gray. Everything was blue except console armrest and seats.

I found one of the 91;s with bench front seat with fold down armrest and a factory cup holder mounted to the center hump near the dash.

I also found a Navajo with black interior. I wanted to buy the interior components and seats. The seats were power with the adjustable leg rest. The colors on the seats were black checker like with blue strip. Never seen before and looked hot. the guy wanted 100 for each seat that 300 and he wouldn't seperate the interior panels from doors or good body parts. He wanted 500 for the good door and the bad door he wanted 75 for the door panel. I will need to work him a bit cause I want the interior.

I found I think it was a Mountaineer, no rear hatch, with a sharp airdam with round lights it looked like a 1st gen. A lot of snow was on the ground and vehicles so it was hard looking. Out of 12 91-94 not one had blue seats which was originally what I was searching for.

I did find many overhead consoles and power rear view mirros if anyone is interested.

Oh I forgot the bigest find of all..Too bad it was smashed to he!!. I spent a lot of time looking at a 2dr 1st gen X eddie bauer. Where did this come from? It had Leather seats and the backliftgate emblem said eddie bauer not explorer sport. It had a sunroof and overhead console. It looked like a 94. It had flares like a sport but the side molding was tan and said eddie bauer. Vehicle color was green, flares were tan. Including molded running board.

Where did this come from? I also saw two pairs of rims that were similar to some posted on here earlier but different.

id be interested on the over head consoles and the mirror for my 91 if it fits not one with blur interior ill have to take a pic of mine to show you i kinda like i want black leather with a metalic blue on the inside part

We were talking about my front seat before and you were confused. I have the 60 40 with the flip down armrest like in that diagram gack there. I also have the blue interior and kinda like it!

I`m going to bring us back outside with an observation that I haven`t quite confirmed yet, and it is bugging me. I`m going to drive off the road soon trying to pick it out!

This is only on the 91-94s of course, but I`ve noticed that on some, the beams on either side of the rear window are painted black and others match the body color(like mine). I seem to have found that XLs will match the body color and XLTs will be black. Most of the Ex`s I see are either XLs or XLTs, and of the dozen or so I`ve examined so far, my theory has proven true.

This doesn`t extend past the 94 year though, I`ve seen some 2nd gen XLs with black beams.

Whaddya think?

Are you talking about on the outside. If you are then on my 91 the beams are black not white like my body is.

Jason

Im still learning i didnt want all of the post just the part

-Darn, my theory has dived.
Yeah I mean between the rear window and the rear-most side windows. Mine is black between the front and rear doors though.

Sorry to burst you bubble. Yeah my explorer has black trim between the rear side windows and rear window. Maybe you theory applies to the newer first gen. explorers. There now your bubble is patched up and fixed. lol.

hmm, no I already disproved the theory on the newer models. I hate you! lol! Just kidding, at least now I know, but I still don`t get the reason why some are blacked out and some are matched.

I believe they have to for legality issues

Maybe it was just an option you could have done. Ive seen a few XLs with painted bumbers to match the body it could just be and option. But then why wouldnt you do all of the panel looking things instead of just the back ones.

All of my families XL's have the painted uprights....I like the look better, it doesn't fade in sunlight. I wonder why cheaper vehilces received extra paint?

Is mine the only XL that doesn't have the beams on the tailgate painted the body color. Mine are black like i said maybe its just an option you could have done. Who the hell knows.

No when i got the truck they were black i painted the rims an REPAINTED the trim the color it was when i got the truck BLACK.

before if it works im not sure if you can see the back beams but they were black

Well I don`t know what the significance of the black is then, I`m stumped.
BTW how are you posting without elite status?
