I know this has keyless entry, but I was only given the key when I bought it.

The key is literally so worn down, its crazy, but back to the main topic, I finally figured out the code which is nice, but the lights dont work to light the pad up, so at night that would be a hassle, otherwise I wouldnt care too much.

How/where can I get a replacement remote, and what do I do to program it?

IDK if I have the PATS system, it has an alarm, and a THEFT light in the gauge cluster...when I lock the doors from the inside, with the doors open, key outta the ignition, the THEFT light is on, when I lock the doors with the 78+90 buttons, with them closed, the THEFT light comes on and stays on.

My key doesnt have the black big chip at the end either, its just the average metal key.

I bought a keyless entry FOB on ebay. There are a ton of replacement FOBs there for pretty cheap and they come with programming instructions. Good luck!

I ordered one for my girlfriend's '05 Focus from Amazon. It was $22 shipped. I was so pleased that I ordered another one last night for my '00 Mustang. The seller's name has the word "honda" in it. I believe there were some numbers before or after the name... can't remember. They ship fast.

Well my biggest question is, is it easy todo?

I was reading threads about having to get your PATS re-programmed and your truck not starting, hacing to have like 3 keys..... ahh! lol

Id like to get 2 remotes, and 2 new keys made.
Im sure though that it has keyless entry right, if its got the keypad on the outside?

well if its any help ford charges 55 for a FOB and they re program it.....IDK i still need one myself....

I found myself in a similar situation when I bought my 02 X. I bought a remote and 2 more keys from a Ford dealer and they programmed it themselves. I don't know about older X's but my manual said I needed 2 working keys to program others and I only had 1. Was not cheap but had to be done to have an extra set.

Well friday when i get paid (lol) im going to ACE hardware to get 2 new keys made, mines so worn out you can pull it out when the trucks running or on ACC, ill just get one off eBay, theyre like 15-20$....although those are the one with the soft buttons, id like to have one of the newer style ones that like click if you get what i mean?

The ones from ebay do have soft buttons, but they do give a tactile 'click' when pushed.

For $20, it's a hard to beat deal. They come with programming instructions which are extremely easy to follow.

do you understand what i mean by that though? lol, like the older remotes are just buttons and its like mushy when you push them, then theres the newer ones that click when you press the buttons

I got my Mustang's remote in yesterday and it took me about 15 seconds to program it. I had to cycle the key from off to on 8 times within a 10 second period. The doors auto-locked and then I pressed a button on the remote. (any button will work) That's all there was to it. The Focus was even simpler. I only had to cycle the key 4 times within 10 seconds.

BTW, the remotes have a nice click to them. They say FoMoCo on the back, so perhaps they are genuine Ford parts.

Be sure you get the correct remotes Brian- some of them do not cross-operate. More differences than the buttons. The remotes that you need are part number GQ43VT4T. No need to worry about the 3 key thing, your key doesn't have a chip.

The newer remotes are nice, but may not work on your older keyless system, but I'm not positive on that.

Yea I kinda figured about the chip, I kinda thought wtf when I bought it, I was almost sure it had the PATS, but the dude gave me the regular little key.

Yeah, ill post some links from eBay, I cant afford no 55$ for just one remote, eBay prices I could get like 3 lol.
