How do you align the shift position indicator

i just had my transmission finally rebuilt and fixed right now the shift indicator is off the haynes manyal says there is a wheel but it also shows wit the steering whell off, this can stay on right.

You can keep the steering wheel on. That little adjusting wheel is right under the steering column. You will have to take the bottom panel piece off to get to it.
