well ive got 56k now on my explorer, and im wonderin if it might be time to replace the shocks. they have not ever been replaced, but i really dont know whether they need to be or not. are there any indications of worn out shocks? thanks guys

yeh

Wanting to buy new shocks is the first sign that your Explorer needs new ones :)

Seriously, if you have the factory ones on there and over 50,000 youre way past due..go grab some Gabriels from AutoZone or Monroe Reflex for cheap ones that work well, or get some Eldebrock or Bilsteins for more 'spensif ones.

I'm runnin at about 40k+ on my '97.. I've been looking for an excuse to buy some of those edlebrock IAS shocks.. are they any good?

We have close to 40k (if not more) on our rs9000's. They still feel great (still only 1 bounce) but I know I need to replace because they are dented. When the rear suspension flexes the bottom of the shock hits the sway bar mount (no sway bar).. If I didn't dent them I'd still run them..
