it will probably vary but mine lasted about 10k before i had to replace it. as for getting a new driveshaft i would get a one made from a local driveline place they will be half the price of the superlift one

i can get a driveshaft from the junkyard for 49 bucks...should i get one of those, then when my stock one goes, throw that one in there, and see how long that goes??? i just need a little time to get the money, but there isnt a good shop around here...

edit:there is one i can pull from the junk yard from a 96 that looks to be double cardan??? and it has a boot towards the front to allow expansion and compression... would this one lasttt????

It would but it won't bolt up to your t-case. The output shafts are different.

you could get a used one to get you buy but it is just a waist of money in my opinion. do you use 4wd allot? only ask this because when you front drive shaft goes out it doesnt just break inhalf it is still driveable you just cant use 4wd it will just click. i drove mine around for few months when it went bad then i just finally took it off untill i went to a shop and them made me one in like 2 hours for $250. so you can keep it on or take it off when it goes bad

i have full time AWD so that was in the question... but id rather not take the risk of my transfercase eating itself apart inside with no front driveshaft...

oh my bad didnt see that you had awd then getting a junk yard one would be you best bet for a back up till you get the money for a new one

Do you think that you could get the double cardon and have the flange changed, sounds like that shaft would be a good one. When I put in my Superlift I got at least a year or more.

your stock driveshaft lasted a year?????

mine would have lasted long as well but in winter i did a lot of pulling people out of ditched in 4wd it put to much stress on the from driveshaft and this was over a period of 5 years i only used to drive it around in big snow storms, as for changin out the parts on a double cardon i think it should be possible if anything i would ask a driveshaft place if you can change the flanges on used driveshafts

thats what i thought, but the shaft would be 50 from the junkyard + new parts to convert.... if my stock one will last long enough i will have the money to fork over for a superlift one- and at least i know that one wont fail... if it does, someone will be gettin **** from me! :D

in all honeslty the superlift one is not worth $400 or$500 your just paying for the name if at all possible get a custom one made from anywhere it will most likely come with some kinda warrenty and it will be just as good as the superlift one but if your set on it by all means i just couldnt get past how much they cost

hey patrick, what size tires are you going to be running after the super lift? 35's? are you keeping the body lift?

well i found the superlift one for 400, but before i buy i will check my local driveline shop...

naw man i tink im stickin with the 33s, unless someone wants to donate some 4.88s for this little project :D i dont think my tranny would love the thought of even bigger tires (i have 3.73s right now) and heck yea im stickin with the body! my plan is to have a skyyy highhh mountyyy.... i already get looks from people like HUHHH?? ive never seen one of those lifted..... lol :p:

The problem with the stock one is the angle after the lift, plus not sure why but the rubber boot inside the end at the transfer case ripped apart, ( maybe cause of the angle ) but it filled full of crap from off roading and finally packed it in. I went to a drive train shop that works on big trucks, the guy had never seen a shaft that would fit so he made on up, $750.00 Canadian, it was just a new challenge for him and he made it out of Spicer parts, I suspect that the truck will be long gone before it breaks again.
