- 2016 Interceptor Utility
I am looking to upgrade a 2016 Police Interceptor to SYNC3. I have a question that I can't seem to get answered.
If you have SYNC3 in your Explorer, how long does it take before your USB devices are recognized? With the current system, if I am playing music from a USB source, when I restart the vehicle, the music is at the exact place it was when I shut the car off and locked the doors. I am hoping this is how SYNC3 will also work.
My 2022 Mustang GT, takes a good bit of time before it recognizes the USB devices. It recognizes the iPod faster than a thumb drive. Regardless, after restart it often defaults to Sirius or broadcast radio. If I unlock the doors as I approach the vehicle, the system has more time to recognize the devices and often this helps. The screen will put up a message that it's trying to connect to a given device...but it often says the device wasn't available. Within a few seconds, the device is available, but the system has already switched to another source. A certain small, but annoying issues.
If I understand correctly, somewhere around 2019 Ford made a change and vehicles after that time take longer to recognize these devices than earlier vehicles.
Glad to know what year your Explorer is...and how the USB connects.
