I just bought a 91 Eddie Bauer and its still on the original transmission and shifts good. But It appears that they are often bad. I own a Taurus SHO also, and I am use to the bad transmissions in those.

My 92 has 145,000 on the original tranny (auto), and It still shifts like brand new.

Mine was rebuilt at about 60K miles, and now my '93 has 78K miles and is running like a champ, but has never been replaced.

Hmmm well I know the A4LD tranny in my Ex has been rebuilt twice in the past 4 yrs. I wonder if I should get a whole new tranny and go from there.

I did hear that a local tranny rebuilder has C4's for 405 rebuilt maybe I need to swap that in instead.

Oh and my 93 is still down T-case went and my 5 spd manual tranny output shaft snapped.

Had to replace mine ~70k... sounds like my muffler is going now too, up by the manifold. :p
There goes some $$$
