How many of you have replaced your Auto trans?

I have my fingers crossed at 113,000 miles. I take good care of my A4LD, I have kept it cool and filter change and fluid flush every now and then.

I've had 3 a4ld transmissions (might be 4, I can't remember now), and now have a 7004r in the explorer...

Replaced at 180,000. 91 eddie, a4ld and it sucks having to remove the exhaust and the rest. but it is possible to do all alone with not to many special tools. It actually worked when it was all over.

A4LD? Rebuilt by ford at less than 36K. That didn't work right from the start and fried a few years later. We (dad and I) rebuilt it and got several more years out of it. This happened again. Rebuilt it again. Got a few more years until something major "popped" inside. This time I junked it and threw in a C5. Working fine ever since.

I am hoping my 5R55E holds up a lot better. So far just over 75k.

lost 2cnd had it rebuilt (went back 5 times) was never right when I put the second motor in I installed a 60,000 mile tranny in it

truck had 236,000 but has sat 3 years soon to be on the road...

i had mine replaced in my 91 Ex XLT just like a few others it Popped....went at 153000 miles.

now i am going to buy another Explorer 1992 has a blown engine but a rebuilt tranny.. and im throwing my engine in it

Rebuilt 3 in my 92 within 2 years. Really fun.

I am on my third Explorer. My experience with transmissions so far:

93 - Traded at 130,000 miles - original trans

96 - Replaced trans at 240,000 miles - traded at 280,000 miles

01 - current vehicle - 204,000 miles - original trans

got a lil over 127,000 miles and original tranny......knock on virtual wood!

on third transmission i think they hate me, the first was replaced a week after i got it, by the dealership the second one at 86000 or so only had like 40000 on it. now i am in the process of getting everything to fix the 1-2 flare on the third one at 110 tho on the speedo. And making plans to build a bullt proof something to work in there just need to make up the mind on it
