Without some pictures of it, it's hard to put a value on it. Going by your description I would estimate it's value is $3000-5000 USD. My guess is derived from Explorers in the United States. This is the range it would probably sell for, if you went to KBB (Kelly Blue Book) they will give you a value which is higher than this. But it probably won't sell if you price it according to them.

on a forecourt mate £4-5000 -but with ebay setting the prices nowdays about £1800-2500 you could be better off trying to sell local (greens a good colour by the why-i like it)just big up its lower tax band and economy compared to other stuff.

in this current economic clime mate i think you need to sell asap, unfortunatly the cars only worth a couple of hundred quid. so, to help you out i will collect :D :D :D

seriously now, i think £2000 is a figure that you should aim for, but, due to fuel prices you could find it tough to sell, and its value may well drop in the near future to around £1200 i reckon. looking at prices and the market at the mo.

regards,
mick.

Sold mine a just over a month ago. It was a 98 'S' in light metallic green, loads of extras (CD changer, side steps etc etc) done less than 50k miles. It did have a couple of problems mainly with the ABS and some smaller stuff.

I advertised mine at no cost in the 'Scotads' paper which is basically a big newspaper full of all sorts of stuff for sale.

I asked £1500 and named the faults. Sold within a couple of days for £1400 and I was pretty happy with the price.

Don't know if this helps at all for your Ex. but good luck with the sale.

By the way, if anyone is interested, I have a genuine Ford Explorer dog guard and a full custom made bootliner that extends the whole length when the seats are folded down which has a fold out flap to protect the rear bumper. Also a plastic boot tray is available. I will try to post some pics in a new thread when I get the time.

Thanks for the advice guys. I think I'm going to advertise it for £2000 and see how it goes. It runs like a dream, whoever ends up with it will end up with a bargain and a cracker of a 4wd. I'm fed up with £150 per year parking permit here in central London, that's if i can find a space big enough! So it looks like it has to go.

i dont think i could part with mine for the money they make now id rather keep it in the garage and use it once a year when ive saved up enough money to pay the petrol i just cant believe how cheap there getting its damm right depressing ......................id say £2000-£2500 if sold privately good luck any way

can you not gas it and get that knocked on the head, they drop the congestion zone for gas.you pay out for the gas but it could be better than buying a horrid little car for the same money.

I could not afford to run mine without a gas conversion. They command a lot more money if converted - thats if you are lucky enough to get one. If you have a good one, I agree with Jay. Big initial outlay, but at least you save money when driving and if you do sell it later, should get a better price. At least you know you have a good Ex - could easily buy a load of crap for the same money.

By the way, Jay, are we the only two running gas?

i really don't know mate, you would think there where more considering the cost of fuel, maybe we should start a poll.

how much does it cost for the conversion any idea

well most systems are multipoint now days and i think (although dont qoute me lol) you are looking at £1500-2000 fully fitted, but saving on fuel is very real,i have a 60ltr tank thats cost £27 to fill nowdays, (bloody fuel duty)but that gives me about 240 miles driving (hard country lane and duel carriage, and town) with the petrol tank full i have a range of hundreds of miles without stopping, although i never use the petrol, only to start the car the rest is gas i refuse to pay!.20 a ltr for fuel when i can use £0.47 a ltr fuel:D.
my ex returns about 50-60 to the gallon on gas compared to petrol, what with gas being a third of the price this could be more,i have never done the sums properly.

for £27 i get about 75 miles i might shop about and see if i can get the conversion a bit cheaper

Plenty oif kits around if you fancy a go at installing it yourself - you can do it for well under a grand including getting a test and certificate of installation. The independant test and certificate are essential for insurance - also gas is a funny thing and needs to be checked out properly.

oh yes you could fit one yourself for about 5 or 600 i should think, but i think its well worth the money as you say £27 for 70 miles or £27 for 240 the figuers say it all,it is useful to find a place that will service it once a year aswell.

just to add my pennys worth lol,i put £20quid in and got 70miles so lpg is looking a good way to go,but i have noticed the price of lpg creeping up to around 70p ltr,and probably soon be just as expensive as petrol once they think of an excuse or somesupply shortage ruse like theyve done to petrol and diesel. i beleive lpgs a by product of drilling for oil so if everyone goes lpg there will be no one needing the oil for petrol and diesel so eventually the gas will run dry as oil production slows and eventually someone will invent the next wonder fuel .anyway while i can just about afford it ill keep it petrol for now

Just converted my Ex '98 to LPG at a cost of £1650 by BritishLPG in wembley, good service and quality instal from them. They had the vehicle for 3 days. they do a free recalibration after the first 1000 miles
