Hi I have a 2000 Explorer with the 5.0L engine and I want to get the metal part with the 5.0L emblem on it back to it's once original shine. What materials would I need to do that? Sorry if this is a dumb question I'm only 18 hahaha :dunno:

depending how bad its oxidized, you might have to sand it clean (with 220) then re clear it.

do something like i did, and find a chunk of scrap metal, cut it to fit on the intake, and get it painted, or throw a decal of some sort, and clear over it to seal it in.

That looks sweet!

Problem with refinishing the plate is that then the rest of the intake will still look old next to a shiny plate. Then you take off the intake to paint it, then the rest of the stuff around it looks like crap. It'll be a neverending quest... :)

How about the entire throttlebody? I cleaned my engine and everything looks nice and clean except the throttlebody on the outside. I tried sanding it down and it seems to be a never ending process :/

could media blast it, id say walnut shells, not anything crazy abrasive like glass beads or sand, and then take black paint and touch up the 5.0 part

you could just paint it. Chrysler's Bright Silver and follow it with clear coat, or whatever shade floats your boat.

Or just buy a pretty one on ebay.
