97 4.0L OHV. Intake gasket leaked coolant. (Compression OK, thankfully). Intake bolts were torqued at less than 10 N-m. (spec is 16).

Took intake off and now I need to clean out the water/oil sludge. I can wipe out a lot and use various cleaners to spray the crud down into the pan. I've heard about using diesel as oil and running engine for few seconds to clear oil passages.

Any other suggestions?
Thanks.

Hope I spell this correctly, Butyl Cellosolve has been used for many years to clean the mayo out of engines. Usually available at radiator shops. I used to purchase it at Olympic radiator in Los Angeles. It has clear instructions for use on the bottle or can.
