How to clean under the hood?

to answer Yob- yes petroleum does eat rubber. but, very, very slowly and over a long period of time. by the time the WD-40 eats through your radiator hose, it would have needed to be replaced a long time before. (and by the way, i work with rubber compounds every day @ C**per Tire & Rubber Co. here in my town; im not just saying this because i think it might work.) BTW- rubber has oil in it. we put it there.:D

Cool. I'll give it a shot. Hopefully it's the miracle cleaner I've been looking for.

We got some stuff at work made by Beaver Reaserch. It works great. I take my truck there when I get done mudding. Beets going to the cars wash. Nothing will happen to your alt if you spray it will water nor the battery either. I have done this MANY times and still have the same alt and battery. When you are done cleaning the engine. Spray it down with tire shine. It works great, looks new again. I used to detail cars when I was younger, I have learned a few things. Never wax a car when it is humid out. It don't work!

so i can spray the alt and battery if i use low pressure and it won't do much dammage????

To play it safe I always cover the battery, alternator, computer, and my air filter when I spray the engine.

But I (and my truck) are very paranoiod of water now. Long story.

I have never had problems. I have seen MANY people with diesels clean there engines without covering anything. The diesels get dirty fast. Just my two cents. Maybe somone here as a good reason why you shouldn't.

Adam Foote- 100% correct...i used to work at a car wash/Detail center...Silicon spray is the $hit they use...its cheap and easy...They never covered ne thing, and soaked the engine w/ that spray...Then they just sprayed with a car wash highpressure hose....I personally wouldn't spray directly onto electrical $hit...Take care, PS GUNK SUCKS (expensive comparitively, and not enough spray/can)

thanks
