Hello,
I've searched, and i couldn't find exactly how to get to the belt tensioner adjustment nut???? Do i have to take off the intake????? Or go at it from the bottom???? My belt is squeeling like a pig, even with wd-40, it's still chirping a little, I'm hopping to just replace it. (I know it could be the bearing in the tensioner or alternator? But as it's only when the engine is cold, i think it's just the belt. )

Thanks
Matt.

Now hold on....What year and engine are we talking about?
Also, the belt tensioner does not have an "adjustment nut" It only has a nut that holds a wrench so you can turn the whole assembly to take off the belt.......

I replaced my belt last week. It was very easy. You have to remove the air tube (2 screw clamps) to gain access to the tensioner. Use a 3/8" drive ratchet handle to release the belt tension, and remove the belt.

Like Crankcase says, there is no adjustment, the belt tension is preloaded by a spring in the tensioner.

it depends on what year explorer you have. the belt tensioner is in a different place on the ohv motors than it is on the sohc motor.
