I just got my new Leafs from LMC Truck. I have been told 2 different ways that I should take the old ones off and put the new ones on. One is to put the vehicle on jack stands and raise the rear tires in a way that keeps them touching the ground but leves the axle to hang freely. The other is to put the vehicle on jack stands, take off both wheels, put a jack under the rear axle to relieve the tension on the shocks and take the bottom shock bolt off.

Has anyone done this themselves and know how it should be done?

use the search feature. You'll find what you need with detailed instructions and pictures.

This is a write up for the add-a-leaf installation. But it covers the axle question you have

I would do exactly as he says in the thread. Because that way if you have the axle up, when the new springs are in position, you just reinstall the shocks, and lower the axle onto the new leaf springs and tighten/reinstall as needed.

Hope this helps, if you're unsure, just remember, if uncertain, put a jackstand under it so it won't fall. It's all bolts so nothing should be un-repairable

Do I torque the Ubolt nuts before or after I lower it to the ground. I have a sheet that says before and a book that says after I lower.

I believe in the writeup it's done before lowering. But as he said, torque 'em down, and then drive like 100 miles, and recheck them as they might back off.

yes, with suspension components double check everything, also I might reccomend thread lock since you won't be taking it apart very often. Don't overtorq your shackle bolts, use a nylon lock nut instead if to maintain better flex, less binding.

nice, ill have to look at a few of these threads when i put new springs on. still deciding on just stock replacements or superlift for now. my stock leafs are bent kinda backwards at this point lol...
